Our story

Outlets Co-operative Ltd is a non profit organisation and commenced its services in 1973 operating from a hall and garage know as "The Fun Factory", offering out of school hour programs to the community. The need to become more established saw the purchase of 43 Mason Street in 1975. In over 40 years of operation, Outlets has survived and grown with the community and maintained itself within the social economic environment.
Outlets extended its facilities in 1996 with a large 72 square metre room. In 2011 we built a 45 square metre multipurpose room. This enabled Outlets to increase its childcare places from 13 to 35. Outlets is registered as a limited hour 2 childcare centre with 3 hour and 5 hour occasional child care sessions. This license enables occasional care or permanent care being 5hrs and up to 15 hours per week.

Our aims

  • To provide a diverse range of programs which are targeted at the disadvantaged and all members of the community without discrimination. All programs and services will have a community development and an educational focus which reflects the community needs.
  • To provide emotional support and services for the alleviation of poverty, distress, misfortune, destitution and helplessness. To engage in charitable and/or benevolent activities, which are consistent with these purposes.
  • To provide an information and referral service which aims to inform people about their rights to services and entitlements and in addition provide information on all other essential services and programs run by other providers. Wherever possible we aim to have this information translated to relevant languages.
  • To provide a friendly informal environment where people in our community feel comfortable to drop in whenever they wish.
  • To provide advancement and opportunity of education and pathways for those most disadvantaged or had an interrupted school life.
  • To provide affordable childcare for those furthering education, respite, looking for work and casual employment.
  • To develop community awareness and involvement in environmental conservation matters by increasing environmental opportunities for the community.
