Outlets Co-operative Ltd is a non profit organisation and commenced
its services in 1973 operating from a hall and garage know as
"The Fun Factory" offering out of school hour programs
to the community. The need to become more established saw the
purchase of 43 Mason Street in 1975.
|
| |
In the 30 years of operation, Outlets has survived and grown
with the community and maintained itself within the social economic
environment.
|
| |
Outlets extended its facilities with a large 72 square metre
room. This enabled Outlets to increase its childcare places from
13 to 35. In 1997, Outlets became the first Neighbourhood House,
to aim at obtaining a standard Childcare license for a full day.
This was successful, Outlets is registered both as a restricted
and standard Childcare centre with 6 hour and 3 hour occasional
child care sessions. Childcare Benefit Rebate available for those
working or training.
|
| |
Outlets is also an information centre and a referral point,
providing not only courses, but assistance to range of questions
- including health, education, legal, community resources and
services and safety (within the city of Hobsons Bay).
|
| |
A Community Centre (Neighbourhood House) is often the first place
of contact for the community, either by telephone or dropping
in.
|
| |
It is vital for all in the community and government departments
to be aware of the need for services such as OUTLETS!
